A few months after I made my consecration to Mary on the cold evening of December 8, 1989, at St. Thomas More Cathedral in Arlington, Virginia, I felt completely lost. “As Louis-Marie devoted a lot of time to spiritual reading, he became familiar with nearly all books dealing with the spiritual life. Those which in my opinion were his favorites were those by the late Fr. Boudon. He would have liked everybody to join the society of the slaves of the Blessed Virgin. The source of this zeal was the book “The Holy Slavery of the Admirable Mother of God” written on this subject by the late Fr. Boudon.”
And Montfort Father Jean-Marie Texier pointed out…
“The writings of this holy priest (Fr. Boudon) charmed the fervent seminarian (St. Louis) in his free time and gave a lively impulse to his momentum toward the good. But none captivated him as much as “The Holy Slavery of the Admirable Mother of God”.
“It is a rich repertoire from which Montfort drew extensively when he composed his “Treatise on the True Devotion”. One finds, in effect, in the writings of Montfort, the thoughts of Boudon, and sometimes even his expressions.”

Blessed Pope Pius IX wrote in the Encyclical Ubi primum:
“God has committed to Mary the treasury of all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained every hope, every grace, and all salvation. For this is His will, that we obtain everything through Mary.”
He also declared that St. Louis’ devotion to Mary was the best and most acceptable form of devotion to Our Lady, which means this is the best way to help Our Lady carry out her mission of saving sinners.
Our Lady wants you to share in her compassion for sinners, and she asks for your help to save them.
To emphasize this, she showed the three shepherd children at Fatima a vision of hell, and told them…
“You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish throughout the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.”
And on Aug. 19, 1917, she told them, “Pray, pray a great deal, and make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to hell because they have no one to sacrifice and pray for them.”
And so, there are souls who not only need you to practice devotion to her, but this specific devotion to her.
That’s because St. Louis also emphasized that this devotion is “more glorious to God, more sanctifying to the soul, and more useful to the neighbor, than any other of the devotions to her” (True Devotion, #118).
